Tags: Windows+ Joe Belfiore, the head of the Windows Phone group at Microsoft, just went on stage to unveil the new Windows Phone 8.1, and one of the first news that he treated us to is that Microsoft's mobile platform is getting two new partners: Micromax and Prestigio. Those two companies might not ring a bell for most of you, but they are big in emerging markets. Actually, Micromax is one of the biggest phone makers in India, the world's second most populous nations. Belfiore had a Windows Phone 8.1 device from both Micromax and Prestigio, but the devices are not yet final. The two companies will be releasing Windows Phone smartphones in the coming months.

By Manda Banda Published April 9, 2014 Samrtphone manufacturer Prestigio has announced it will start selling smartphones running the brand new Windows Phone 8.1 OS from Microsoft. The company, which recently attended the Microsoft's Build 2014 conference held in San Francisco where Microsoft announced some new partners for Windows Phone, including Prestigio and Micromax, said it is committed to launching devices in the coming months running the newly unveiled Windows Phone 8.1. Dia Hamdan, marketing manager at Prestigio Middle East confirmed that the Windows Phone will be available in the market in the June/July timeframe. Hamdan added that the handset is built on an Intel processor platform and has 32GB storage capacity. "All is on track for Prestigio to launch the new Windows Phone this summers," he said. Microsoft's more personal approach with Windows Phone is making the experience ‘less about technology, more about you,' said Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president at Build.
